Through workshops and community planning, landowners design and plan for a sustainable future. The cycle of deforestation and poverty are difficult to break out of. With the loss of the forest also comes the loss of many Kichwa traditions. In our planets changing climate, it is more important than ever to restore diverse and resilient ecosystems for future generations. The reforestation program supports land owners as they shift away from a livelihood based on timber, and venture into sustainable businesses such as crafting, ecotourism, and sustainable forest products. It also supports the creation of a network of seed suppliers to support reforestation efforts throughout the region.
You will help to replant parts of this unique ecosystem that have been lost to logging, petroleum exploitation, and cattle farming. Learn the process of growing trees from seeds to saplings. Learn to collect seeds, prepare compost, prepare the reforestation site, and plant trees to restore the biodiversity of the area. Please contact Two Rivers Reserve at: [email protected]
